Crossbody isn't really a bag shape on its own, it's a carry-style modifier, describing any bag worn on a long strap diagonally across the body rather than on the shoulder or by a handle. That's why the crossbody category overlaps heavily with the other three shapes on this site: Lemaire's Croissant Bag, Gucci's GG Marmont, and Tory Burch's Fleming all show up here and in the shoulder category, because the same bag often ships with (or can be adapted to) both a shoulder-length and a crossbody-length strap. A handful of models are crossbody-only or crossbody-first by design, like Jacquemus's micro Le Chiquito or Louis Vuitton's Speedy Bandoulière.
Because it's a modifier rather than a fixed silhouette, crossbody spans an unusually wide range of use cases and price points, hands-free security for travel and commuting, a compact going-out bag, a viral micro-bag novelty, or a limited hype collaboration. That range means crossbody resale patterns are best understood by looking at what kind of bag is wearing the crossbody strap, not the strap itself.

We sampled 12 of the 30 crossbody models tracked here, and the distribution was the most varied of any category: nine Stable, one Appreciating (BAPE's Baby Milo line), one Depreciating (the Jacquemus x Nike Le Sac Swoosh), and one Volatile (Jacquemus's Le Chiquito). That variety reflects crossbody's nature as a carry-style rather than a fixed shape, the resale behavior tracks whatever underlying bag and brand story is attached to the strap.
Heritage and everyday pieces are the steadiest performers: Louis Vuitton's Speedy, sold with a crossbody-capable Bandoulière strap since 2011, resells for 35-50% of retail across sizes, and Off-White's Binder Clip Bag holds 55-70% as one of the few post-Abloh Off-White pieces collectors actively seek out by name. At the other extreme, hype- and virality-driven crossbody pieces swing hardest: Jacquemus's Le Petit Chiquito briefly traded at or above retail during its 2019-2021 viral peak and has since cooled to 45-55% of today's retail, while the Nike x Jacquemus Le Sac Swoosh shows a split personality within a single model, its original February 2024 launch colorways still hold 75-100% of retail, but the Summer 2024 follow-up colors have already dropped to 45-70%.
The takeaway: a crossbody strap by itself tells you nothing about resale value. A crossbody-capable version of a heritage bag (Speedy, GG Marmont, Fleming) behaves like a heritage bag; a crossbody-first novelty or collaboration piece (Le Chiquito, Le Sac Swoosh) behaves like a limited sneaker drop, with value concentrated in the original colorway and eroding fast in follow-up releases.
